BONEFIGHT: THE WORLD SNOWSKATING LEAGUE AND RACE SERIES
BONEFIGHT was founded in 2015 as an international race series for snowskaters. The tournament has taken place each season since then, in indoor and outdoor locations around the world.
As a downhill sport on skates and part of the ATSX family of skate sports, BONEFIGHT shares some features with Ice Cross Downhill: Many of the same athletes, including the Dallago brothers, Brüno Richard and current women’s BONEFIGHT world champion Alice Zenz take part in both sports.
However, many top BONEFIGHT athletes – including the current men’s world champion, Isak Bjarnason – have come to the sport directly via snowskating or other sports as diverse as hockey and parkour.
Like Ice Cross Downhill, BONEFIGHT features time trials and head-to-head heats on purpose-built tracks around the world. However, where Ice Cross Downhill features ice skates and ice tracks in urban environments, BONEFIGHT is all about snowskates on snow slopes. BONEFIGHT also showcases the best in snowskating freestyle, crowning a world freestyle champion each year.
DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES?
Make no mistake: BONEFIGHT is a serious competition attracting world class athletes and sponsors. Snowskating might be the quickest and friendliest winter sport to learn J but BONEFIGHT is where the top athletes compete hard for the world title. BONEFIGHT athletes need to be very fit, very skilled on snowskates and (ideally) seasoned athletes with experience competing in downhill races and a winning mentality.
The BONEFIGHT International Race Series (also known as the World Snowskating Championship) decides the top male and female racers in the world, plus the top freestyle artist (male or female). This is the main competition that takes place each season, in 2-4 countries around the world, giving snowskaters the chance to earn the world title, plus cash prizes. Entry by online application.
NEW NATIONAL LEAGUE FROM 2019
The new national league will supplement the existing world tour and will offer more races, more prizes and more competition at the local level. This means you will have the opportunity to compete in local venues in your own country, with a shot at winning the national championship in your country. National entrants will gain points for overall world rankings and winners and runners-up will automatically qualify for the BONEFIGHT international tournament. Entry by online application.
NEW EXTREME EVENT FROM 2019
BONEFIGHT Extreme will feature the top snowskaters from the BONEFIGHT race and freestyle competitions from around the world. This will be an exhibition event with selected professional athletes. This will be a great show for spectators and a great chance to gain extra exposure and sponsorship for our athletes and for our sport. Entry by invitation only.
NEW BONEFIGHT CHALLENGE FROM 2019
This is open to anybody and everybody! It’s a fun and informal version of BONEFIGHT that will be touring slopes and centres from the start of the 2019/20 season. It’s a chance to try out a modified BONEFIGHT course and compare your time against the local and international best! We have introduced this activity to help promote the sport as it grows and also to give snowskaters a chance to try BONEFIGHT out before deciding to enter an official race. Free entry for all visitors to participating slopes.
