Sled Dogs Europe demo tour 2016/2017
What do snowhounds do in the long summer months? Plan how to make the next winter even better of course! Here at Sled Dogs HQ we’ve been thinking hard about how to spread the Sled Dogs message of fun, fast, free feet to even more potential fans! We asked our riders about the first time they saw Sled Dogs Snowskates: What did they think? How did they feel?
The answers that came out top consistently were about how INTRIGUED and EXCITED people were about this magic sport, the first time they saw it in action.
‘’You see it for the first time and you’re like ‘Wow – can that actually work?’ and ‘Can I try it?!’‘’
So of course, you try it, and like everybody else you are surprised and thrilled when you see how much control and freedom Sled Dogs gives you! For this reason I like to say that Sled Dogs is ‘’Freedom at your feet’’.
In other words, with Sled Dogs, seeing is believing and doing is divine!
Back to the result of the brainstorming! Tommy (aka Alpha Dog) came up with an awesome way to get Sled Dogs on the road in the party-est, most Norwegian way possible:
Enter the Russebuss: A full-on legend in Norway, Russebuss is an annual student party/festival/graduation/competition based around customising your team’s bus to the max (paintwork, furniture, huge stereos, the works) then driving said partybus to big party events.
Basically, Russebuss means serious partying in Norway: a happy mood, having fun, feeling the freedom of travelling around and meeting people. Sounds like our kind of thing? You betcha!
Even as I write this, we’ve got a team of mechanics ripping out the seats of the soon-to-be Sled Dogs tourbus. By the time we’re finished it’s gonna be a slick, fully-equipped base-on-wheels complete with sick sound system, bar, and a unique Sled Dogs theme. You can bet your last Euro it’s gonna be superfly because it’s also gonna be our home for the winter!
The plan is to take the Sled Dogs message and the Norwegian Russebuss party vibe around Europe, stopping at key locations to let people try out Sled Dogs – we’ll have a demo tent and 25 demo pairs of Sled Dogs for testing. We’re even bringing our own artificial snow, so that we can stop in cities and let people try there.
It’s already been a lot of work getting the bus on the road and there’s plenty left to do! So many small things and decisions to make along the way. Remember the Russ (as graduates are called in Norway) often use 3 years to get it all together – we’ve only given ourselves 3 months!
The bus is set to be totally road-ready by the 15th of November. Look out for our Sled Dogs “Russebuss” in the winter around in Europe. We will post on social media in advance of stops. If you are interested in meeting up with us, just follow us on Facebook on the official and/or the local Facebook for Sled Dogs, if there is one in your country. Everyone is welcome, whether you are already on Sled Dogs, just want to try or you know someone who wants to try. The demo is free for 20-25 minutes per person.
Hope to see you somewhere in Europe this winter!
All the best,
Demo and BONEFIGHT manager
