What are Sled Dogs Snowskates?

Sled Dogs is a brand for a unique Norwegian winter sport product.

What are Snowskates?

Snowskates are not short skis, they exactly what they sound like: SKATES on SNOW!

  • Same technique and movement as for Hockey, Ice Skating and Inline
  • Internationally competition-tested and proven on snow
  • Recommended by Pro Hockey and Inline coaches
  • Minimal baggage; maximum fun!

Anyone who knows how to use Ice Skates or Inlines, already knows how to use snowskates – but even total beginners normally learn in just 1 hour!

Technically speaking, Sled Dogs Snowskates are the world’s first patented snowskates, comprising a comfortable, light boot with an integrated unique base/ski fringed with steel edges which grip the snow. Sled Dogs Snowskates combine the freedom and aggressive movements from inline skating and ice skating, with the adventure and challenge of slalom and snowboarding.

Sled Dogs Snowskates and the international Sled Dogs BONEFIGHT race-tournament represent one of the hottest, fastest-growing activities in winter sports – but don’t just take our word for it – check out the videos and profiles on this site: seeing is believing!

Beginners typically achieve basic confidence/control in just 30-45 minutes (compared to 1-2 days for ski and snowboard).
Skaters/Hockey players only need to adjust to the new environment and are good to go. Watching the (ide linkeljük be a tutorialt) online tutorials is highly recommended.
Beginners can also double their rate of progress in ski and snowboard after 1 or 2 days on Sled Dogs Snowskates.
With instruction, athletic beginners have even pulled 360’s and conquered black routes on day 1 !
Advanced users can reach speeds of 100km/h – making Sled Dogs Snowskates the fastest skates on the planet! The current world record is 115 km/h by Jari-Pekka Rahkonen from Finland.

Sled Dogs Snowskates

Sled Dogs Snowskates are totally safe, safer than ski or snowboard, because there is nothing attached onto the feet. There is nothing to make a big impact on the knees, like not-opening bindings or a board. The movement stays totaly natural, nothing blocks it which is also very helpful in case of a fall.

Snowskaters use their weight very different than skiers, they put the weight on the heels. Thanks to that, this little surface remains totaly stable even very high, 100+ km/h speeds.

Stopping is really easy and effective thanks to the Steelgrip edges. it is easier than with skis, because the little surface is much easier to turn, especially for a total beginner. All in all, total beginners on snow are much relaxed on Sled Dogs Snowskates than on a ski or snowboard and they can have really fun without fear in a couple of hours.

Sled Dogs Snowskates required groomed slopes, can’t really be used off piste. But it is less sensitive to the snow condition than it seems: about up to 4-5″ (10-12cm) fresh powder it still works  and a bumpy slope can be a really big fun, because with the little surface snowskaters can turn and stop literally everywhere. Also it is part of the learning process how to handle different snow conditions, because with a little change on the weight distribution it is possible to go through deeper snowy areas or even knee high bumps – which is very helpful and fun!

Sled Dogs Snowskates is a brand for a unique Norwegian winter sport product. The guys behind the product are the Norwegian brothers Ronny Paul Gydar and Tommy Einar Gydar Syversen. Ronny is the hardcore Inliner which was looking for a way to enjoy inlines in winter time.

Tommy is the guy that loves after-ski and was looking for something to enjoy before after-ski. Together they share the passion for Sled Dogs Snowskates and nothing makes them more happy then to see fellow snowskaters on the slopes.
